The 90s era was very fun funky time where people wore baggy loose clothes, neon colors, layering clothing,and monochromatic styling. People got inspiration in the 90s from music videos, celebrities, and the previous era before (the 80s era). People from today’s era grab certain fashion styles from the 90s and turn it into something different. Today, Daily Teen Fashion is going to comparing the two fashion eras of the 90s and today.

1. Overalls

Wearing baggy overalls was a big fashion trend in the 90s. The overalls would big long oversized pants, and people would also wear a nice shirt underneath the overalls to create a fashion statement. The oversized overalls were in style in style from the TV shoes like Fresh Prince. Men in the 90s would also were the overalls without a shirt like the singing group, Jodeci, who made it in style in that era. Today, people still continue to wear overalls but change the style to shorts as the pants of the overalls. Also there are some styles of overalls where the pants would be skinny jeans.

2. Denim on Denim

Many celebrities in the 90s wore denim on denim and created as a fashion statement such as Brad Pitt, Whitney Houston, Tyra Banks, Johnny Depp, and many more. Today we take on that style from the 90s and changing it up by wearing a darker color pair of jeans or jacket. Today’s era also changed this look by making cropped jean jackets.

3. Biker Short

Today, biker shorts are a very trendy style that is being sold everywhere n stores but little did you know that today’s era stole this biker shorts fashion trend from the 90s era. Bobby Brown introduced biker shorts to men with a different style by adding straps to the biker shorts in the 90s.

4. Platform Sneakers

These Fila sneakers that almost everyone has today is what everyone had in the 90s era. Wearing platform sneakers was a big trend in the 90s and today we brought it back in style with different colors, heights, and styles

5. Mom Jeans

Today, every teen girl is hopping onto this mom jean trend not knowing that this trend came from the millennial generation. Today we added onto this mom jean trend by adding another similar style called boyfriend jeans.

I know many people who attend a school that provides uniforms. Uniforms can be boring and plain, and there only a limited amount of styles that the school provides for students. The advantage of wearing uniforms to school is not having the trouble of not knowing what you’re going to wear the next day, but having the option of creativity in your outfits is harder to do when you’re wearing a uniform everyday. Daily Teen Fashion found some ways you can style up these boring uniforms and make them into something into something more stylish.

Disadvantages to School Uniforms

Adding accessories to your school uniform can make you stand out and can easily be put together. Wearing accessories such as a watch, earrings, a necklace, and many more can make your uniform look 10 times better.

1. They can cause discomfort Sometimes the clothes can cause itchiness to the body from the type of fabric that is used to make the uniforms. Also, some teens do not feel confident or comfortable wearing the school uniforms they provide
2. They are an additional cost Although when you do not go to a uniform school you have to purchase clothes that are appropriate for school for 5 days a week , you also have to pay a high cost for uniform outfits. Not all the time people can afford to purchase a school uniform but thee kids NEED to go to school so this may be a problem.
3. Different cultures can not be expressed in outfits In some cultures you wear religious outfits and if you go to a uniform school they do not allow you to wear any other outfit than the traditional school uniform.

Advantages to School Uniforms

1. Takes less time in the morning to get ready Many teens like myself struggle picking out different outfits for each day. Wearing uniforms help us teens out by having a limited choice of options of outfits to wear.
2. Nobody has to be judged on what their wearing Today, being judged on what your wearing is a big thing in high school, so wearing uniforms can decrease the amount of bullying.
3. The school can identify intruders It is safe for the school to have uniforms because they can identify a person who is not from the school easier from what they’re wearing.

Tips on What to Wear to Be Stylish

1. Socks

Since certain types of shoes are permitted in schools why not just get fashionable with your socks. Wearing funky socks adds to your creativity in your outfit. Preferably socks that are long or knee high so you can see it.

2. Headbands

Wearing a headband that matches your school uniform really brings out your creativity. If you cant seem to find a headband to purchase that matches your outfit, you can buy a regular black headband and cover it with fabric with your schools representative color, and then glue a bow to it. If you do not want to wear a headband you can also just add a ribbon to your ponytail.

3. Wear a belt

Wear a belt to go with your school uniform is a very unique cool way to style your school uniform. If you wear a skirt to school you can tuck in your school uniform shirt into your skirt and put a belt around your waist to show your nice belt. Also, the same thing can go for wearing pants and a shirt by just tucking your shirt into your pants and showing your stylish belt.

4. Accessories

Having school uniforms is debatable for being good thing or a bad thing teens. There are plenty of disadvantage to wearing school uniforms.
